Perched above Homer, this trail system covers a fraction of the 140 acre wildlife preserve. An excellent spot for birding, with the chance of spotting black bear or moose. If your interests tend towards local history, you can learn about the Wynn Homestead.

Hiking Trails Across the Bay.

You can access these trails by taking a water taxi across the bay. We recommend Mako's Water Taxi, which you can find in the "Transportation" section below.

Grewingk Lake | Easy

3.3 miles | ~200 feet elevation gain

A very popular hike, this trail brings you through a boreal forest to the glacial lake.

Grace Ridge | Med.–Hard

8.3 miles | 3,156 feet elevation gain

You can begin at either end of this trail for spectacular views of the bay and Cook Inlet.

For more info on these trails and others, we recommend these sites:

Grewingk Glacier | Hard

12.6 miles | 2,027 feet elevation gain

Difficult but rewarding trail that begins at the glacier lake trailhead.

Saddle Trail/Alpine Ridge | Med.–Hard

3 miles | elevation gain varies

Head south at the top of the Saddle Trail. The trail disappears above the tree line, but the views are incredible.
